A confident Tain Thistle made very easy work of a downhearted Invergordon Social Club side tonight.
Despite being without player-manager Arron Christie, forward Daniel Christie and winger Colin Burry, assistant boss Steven Martin named a decidedly strong eleven, with Liam Rostock returning to a side already boosted by the goal scoring of comeback star Garry Perks. Young striker John Maclellan was handed a return to the side up front, while Kyle Oliver also stepped into the midfield.
Liam Rostock had the look of a player who had never been away as he slotted home with ease to give Tain a first half lead after eight minutes. Straight from kick off however, former Tain man Gordy Oman stunned the away side with an equalizer. The leveller was all-she-wrote for the Social men however as Tain pounced back with two further goals in the first half, from Darran Goller and Garry Perks.
Thistle reached their comfort level at 6-1 in the second half as Liam Rostock rounded his performance off with a hat-trick, while Martyn Farquhar also found the net.
As if Social's evening wasn't bad enough, a series of unsavoury incidents led to red cards for both defender Scott Stirling and substitute Ali Connell, during the second half.
Rounding off the win for Thistle was Garry Perks, scoring a further two for his hat-trick, while Darran Goller netting a second for a brace. Completing a ten goal rout was Craig Nimmons, who saw his looping corner deflected into the net. The Social Club offered a late goal through Sean Broadbent to bring the final score to 10-2.
