The Jags kicked off the Cormack era with a thumping 6-1 win at the Meadows yesterday, beating North West Sutherland amateur side Dornoch City. Missing a number of players who are still involved with their North Caledonian FA teams and others just simply absent, a squad of just twelve travelled over the bridge to tackle the Sutherland men, but what they lacked in numbers they made up for in quality as they made easy work of Dornoch.
Among the scorers for Tain Thistle were Liam Rostock, Chippie Mailley, Jack Hudson and Michael Mckenzie. Chesting the ball into his own net, Martyn Farquhar netted an own goal in favour of the home side.
The fourth annual Texas Golf Scramble, held in conjunction with Tain Golf Club, proved a resounding success yet again, as over £1,300 was raised towards club funds.
The winners on the day were:
1st Chris Mailley & team
2nd Davie Clark & team
3rd Ewan Chisholm & team
Closest to the pin: Mike Skinner
Special thanks must go to Tain golf club, Stuart Morrison, Steven Martin, Murdo Macleod, Willie Rostock and the wonderful staff at Old Tom's Bar & Restaurant for helping to make this day such a wonderful success.
The club wishes to thank everyone who attended the unveiling of the Graham Macrae memorial bench on Saturday morning. The bench, which was placed by the football pavilion at the Links, was purchased by Tain Thistle Football Club in recognition of his many years of assistance and support, as a player, committee member and as a fan since the club's formation in 1997.
