Club accept Ross resignation

Tain Thistle this week reluctantly accepted the resignation of Robert Ross from his role as team manager. Robert had initially committed to a two year period as manager when he took on the role in January of this year, however due to a number of reasons and commitments in 2016, he has taken the decision to step down, having tendered his resignation to the club committee on Saturday.

Robert led the club to two cup final victories as well as the Ross-shire Welfare league championship during the 2015 season, finishing with a 100% record at the Links and just one defeat away from home during the league campaign.

The committee of Tain Thistle FC wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to Robert for all the work he has done this year, and welcomes his decision to remain a committee member with the club and assist the club in their search for a new manager.

Tain and Balintore contest Jardine Memorial Quaich

In a keenly contested friendly match this past Saturday, a Balintore XI beat a Tain XI by 7 goals to 3 for the Graham Jardine Memorial Quaich. Both teams were represented by a number of past and present players, most notably players who would have played with Graham during the late 1980s and early 1990s.

Tain got the game underway with Graham's nephews, Robbie and Louis starting up front for the home side, kicking the game off before making way for Bob Swann and Sean Scott. Balintore chalked up a 3-0 half time lead before going on to secure a further four goals in the second period. Tain scored three times, through Kenny Johnstone, Dean Ross and Darran Goller.

The Tain team was represented by Gordy Macinnes, John Allan, Hugh Taylor, James Rice, Bob Swann, Cammy Mackintosh, Shaun Mckenzie, Arnie Ross, Sean Scott, Dean Ross, Ali Mackenzie, Kenny Johnstone, Tony Farquhar, Ray Goller, Darran Goller, Daniel Christie, Marc Munro and Ryan Johnston.

Post-match, the trophy was presented to John Skinner by Jim Jardine and his grandsons Louis and Robbie.
