• Balintore 5-2 Tain Thistle

A three goal flurry in the first half followed by two late goals was enough for 10 man Balintore, as they scuppered Tain's hopes of a first Easter Ross derby win in the North Caledonian league.

Gordon Duff returned from suspension to reclaim his spot at the back but a last minute call-off meant that manager Robbie Ross had to field himself in goal for first time since the club's final Welfare charity shield tie against Black Rock Rovers in August. Full back Dave MacGruer also returned to action along with Colin Burry.

In infamous fashion, Thistle started the game as they often have this season failing to successfully play the offside trap, leaving Balintore three glaring opportunities to score in the opening stages. The Seaboard side were 3-0 by the half hour mark.

Thistle did manage to pull a goal back before the break however; Arron Christie scoring his second of the season from 25 yards, dispatched into the top left hand corner of the net.

Tain did their best to redeem the scoreline and look to be almost back in the game on the 80 minute mark when substitute Darran Goller made the best of a goalmouth stramash to pull the score back to 3-2.

The chances of a 3-3 scoreline look promising still as Balintore were reduced to 10 men when a second yellow saw a member of the home side dismissed for dissent.

Going for a third however, Thistle were again caught on the break as the experienced North Caledonian campaigners added a further two to their tally to make it a more-than-comfortable 5-2 win.
