Tain Thistle win Cordiner Cup for third year in a row

A goal in extra time was required to record a 2-1 win against Alness United in the Cordiner Cup Final this past Saturday, as Tain Thistle retained the trophy to make it three in a row.

An early sending off put Alness at a disadvantage after Kraig Vass was given his marching orders. But it took until just after the half time break for the deadlock to be broken, and it came via a penalty. The fouled striker, Mark Lamont, made no mistake with his spot kick to give Alness a 1-0 lead.

Gordy Mackay levelled the scores on 82 minutes, sending the game into extra time. It was all Tain from there, and with 12 minutes of the game left, the league's top scorer Darran Goller netted for Thistle to make it 2-1.
