Bannatyne set for dramatic return

It's been a memorable week for Stephen Bannatyne. The experienced goalkeeper hasn't pulled on a Tain Thistle jersey since January 2009, however any doubts over his shooting skills were put to bed yesterday, as he announced the good news that he is going to be a Dad.

But for Bannatyne, 28, the hands that will rock the cradle will be required to be in catching form as soon as this Wednesday, as he faces a quick return to action against Alness Athletic. The Thistle reserve stopper is expected to take the field for the first time this season in the absence of the holidaying Steven Martin, following a successful spell on the training pitch.

"I'd been asked to play at Invergordon and elsewhere, but I wanted to hold out for this chance as I enjoy training with Tain and I've been building up my fitness".

TainThistle.co.uk can confirm that rumours suggesting Stephen and his dear wife Kerrie intend to name their first born after former Rangers goalie Lionel Letizi, are entirely false.
