Alness to look for favour as title race hots up

Terry Stirling's Alness Athletic side were fighting against last place in the Maclean Electrical Ross-shire Welfare league last season when they held title contenders Ross-shire Club to a surprise 1-1 draw in Dingwall with two games left to play. The draw put Tain Thistle into pole position for the championship, leaving them with the task of beating Invergordon Social Club to secure the title.

This Wednesday, Stirling will no doubt be looking to Tain to return the favour as Athletic sit behind league favourites Balintore. The Thistle men head to Seaboard-ville to meet local rivals and league favourites Balintore for their tenth league game of the season and suffering from injuries, holidays and absences in recent weeks, Thistle boss Arron Christie will hope that training will provide some good news ahead of the fixture, as they also try to make amends for their earlier 4-1 loss at Grant Park.
